The Los Angeles Rams Players in the Most Danger of Being Cut

The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers kick off the 2026 preseason with their Hall of Fame Game clash on Thursday, Aug. 6 on NBC, and Week 1 of the preseason officially kicks off the following week on Aug. 13.
As we count down the days until the start of the NFL regular season — which kicks off with a Super Bowl LX rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots on “Sunday Night Football” on Sept. 9 — we continue to look at key offseason storylines for each of the league’s 32 teams.
This week, we’re looking as the players most in danger of being cut during the preseason, and we’ve arrived at the Los Angeles Rams .
Matthew Stafford is firmly entrenched as the starter, and the team used the No. 13 overall pick on Alabama’s Ty Simpson to eventually replace him one day. It’s unlikely the Rams would carry three QBs on their active roster, meaning there may not be any room for Stetson Bennett.
The former Georgia Bulldog hasn’t played a down in the three years he’s been with the Rams, and he could be a candidate to head to the practice squad if he is released.
The Rams have a logjam at tight end after drafting Ohio State’s Max Klare with their second-round pick back in April. Colby Parkinson seems to be the new TE1, and the team has Davis Allen (24 catches, 208 yards, three touchdowns) and Terrance Ferguson (11 catches, 231 yards, three TDs), who both played key roles last year behind Parkinson.
Klare may not be a Day 1 starter, but he’s going to get his reps in camp, leaving the 33-year-old Higbee, whose dealt with his share of injuries the last few years, vulnerable to be released.
The Rams, who already had Kobie Turner, Byron Young, and Braden Fiske, may just have the best edge-rusher depth in the NFL after trading for Myles Garrett. Not to mention they’re flush with young talent to develop as well with Tyler Davis, Desjuan Johnson, and Josaiah Stewart.
It will be hard for an aging veteran like Larrell Murchison to stand out on a defensive line with so much talent, and he could find himself looking for a new team by the end of August.
