LeBron James sent shockwaves around the sporting world this past Friday, announcing his highly-anticipated free agency decision.
James is heading into the next chapter of his all-time great NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers .
"I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship," James wrote in his announcement. "I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time."
After James' signing was made official on Monday, the 76ers posted the first look of his No. 23 Philadelphia jersey on social media.
This marks James' fourth different NBA jersey. In his previous 23 professional seasons, he suited up for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. He signed a two-year, $8 million veteran minimum contract with the 76ers before his historic 24th campaign.
James is the second massive addition for the 76ers this offseason. A few weeks ago, the team landed five-time NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster trade with the Eastern Conference-rival Boston Celtics.
James joins a projected starting lineup featuring Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.
