Both teams had to be separated following the end of the fourth quarter, with Texas players taking the loss to heart as they started to chant “Y’all still suck” at the opposing team before Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian had to step in and usher his players off the field.
The confrontation occurred shortly after the Sooners kicked a 47-yard field goal to nab the game away from the overall favorites. The kick came after a costly Texas interception thrown by quarterback Arch Manning.
Folks took to social media after video of the small scuffle started to go viral.
“Alright, we’ll see if Texas misses out on the playoffs again,” one person said .
“Yessssss, bitter tears!” another exclaimed .
“Texas yelling ‘y’all still suck’ like they weren’t trying to settle who sucks worse,” someone commented .
“Character check time,” one person noted .
Manning threw for three touchdowns, yet had two interceptions, one of which led to the field goal that took the game – all of which drew the criticism of professionals, including former Baylor quarterback and Heisman winner Robert Griffin III.
“And that’s why Arch Manning needs to come back for another year of college football ,” the Heisman Trophy winner and former Washington Commanders’ quarterback said in a post on X following the Longhorns loss. “Just needs more experience.”
