Vikings' Kyler Murray Looked Solid in Short Preseason Appearance

Murray played only one series in Minnesota's preseason matchup with the Giants, but the drive ended with a field goal and gave the new quarterback a chance to get some live reps before the regular season. He completed two of his three attempts for 10 yards and didn't run the ball during the nine-play possession.
The Minnesota Vikings appeared to be keeping things fairly simple, with the running game getting plenty of looks during Murray's brief appearance. Still, he had one particularly useful throw, connecting with Jordan Addison on an eight-yard out route to move the chains on third down.
It wasn't a huge statistical showing, but that's hardly surprising given the limited workload. For Murray, getting through the opening series and helping Minnesota put points on the board was a solid start.
The Vikings also gave rookie running back Demond Claiborne work. The sixth-round pick had 12 carries on 12 total snaps, giving the team an extended look at what he can do with the ball in his hands.
Claiborne couldn't punch it in from the one-yard line on two attempts, but there were some strong moments earlier in the game. He showed his burst on runs of seven and nine yards, giving the Vikings another reason to keep watching him as the preseason continues.
There was also an unfortunate development on defense. New linebacker and safety Jamal Adams left in the second quarter after playing 11 snaps. Adams recorded a tackle for loss before being carted from the sideline to the locker room with an unspecified injury. That's something Minnesota will be watching closely moving forward.
Murray's first appearance was short, but he accomplished what Minnesota needed from him.
