Vikings Veteran Defender Carted Off Field With Serious Injury

The Minnesota Vikings were able to defeat the New York Giants 13-10 in their first preseason action, but it seems to have come at a cost.
Vikings veteran linebacker Jamal Adams went into the medical tent during the second quarter of the game and a cart was eventually brought out to take him to the locker room for further evaluation.
There has still been no word about what the injury is or the severity of it, but Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell hinted it didn't look good coming out of the half.
"You're just crushed for him," O'Connell said on the television broadcast . "The role that he was kind of paving for himself, and then just having a personality and experienced toughness that he brought in such a short amount of time. We're going to miss him and we're going to need to see some guys here step up. But what I told Jamal is our organization, we've got our arms around him. And he's a part of this thing. But you absolutely hate to see that."
Adams, 30, had just signed with the Vikings last month after spending the 2025 season with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Last season, he proved to still have some good football left in him while recording 45 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in 17 games.
Adams began his professional career as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Over his first three seasons, he racked up 273 tackles, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 25 passes defensed and two interceptions.
However, the Jets decided to trade Adams to the Seattle Seahawks for safety Bradley McDougald, first- and third-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft and a first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, which was later used to select wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
It's safe to say the Jets don't regret that decision, either. Adams was never really the same player, especially after suffering a torn labrum in 2021 and a torn quad tendon in 2022.
During his four-year stint in Seattle, he recorded 221 tackles, 9.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 11 passes defensed and two interceptions.
Adams was then released ahead of the 2024 season, during which he spent time with the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions.
