Rams' Ty Simpson Shines in Impressive Preseason Debut Against Chiefs

The Los Angeles Rams already have the reigning Most Valuable Player in starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, and based on Saturday's preseason performance, they've drafted their quarterback of the future.
Ty Simpson put on an incredible display during his debut in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, helping the Rams achieve a 20-12 victory. He didn't start the game, but played the majority of it, entering in the second quarter to replace Stetson Bennett IV.
Simpson had himself a game, completing 21 of 25 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns. The Rams' rookie QB threw zero interceptions and finished with a 125 passer rating in a stellar first outing against preseason competition.
The former Alabama quarterback certainly looked comfortable and confident leading the group he was with. He dropped back multiple times and had enough protection to deliver passes right on target.
He had several 23-yard throws to teammates, including one to tight end Mark Redman and another to wide receiver Brennan Presley. Both of Simpson's touchdown passes went to rookie running back Dean Connors in the game's fourth quarter.
A highlight video of Simpson's plays spotlighted the rookie's impressive outing, and even though it was a preseason debut, he seems like a wise future investment for the Rams.
They surprised many people when they selected Alabama's Simpson with the No. 13 pick in this past April's NFL Draft. However, it seems the front office knew exactly what it was doing.
The good news is the Rams don't need Simpson to do anything right away, as they already have Stafford at QB1 leading a team that is odds-on-favorites to win the Super Bowl in 2027.
Still, the Rams now have themselves a talented, young quarterback who already looks the part and can continue to learn and improve as he spends time working with Stafford and the offense.
