Padres Acquire All-Star Pitcher From Tigers

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee , the Padres have acquired pitcher Casey Mize and infielder Gage Workman from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for pitchers Kash Mayfield and Jackson Wolf.
With the Tigers being on the wrong side of the playoff line and Mize being a pending unrestricted free agent, there was an expectation that he would be traded by the deadline. Now, that has officially come to fruition, and he is now a member of the Padres because of it.
The Padres' decision to trade for Mize is understandable. They needed another impactful starting pitcher as they aim to get into the playoffs, and acquiring Mize from the Tigers has now given them just that. He should be a strong addition to the middle of their starting rotation for the final stretch of the season.
Mize appeared in 16 games this season with the Tigers before this trade, where he had a 4-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, and 85 strikeouts. This is after he posted a 14-6 record, a 3.87 ERA, and 139 strikeouts as an All-Star during this past season.
It will now be interesting to see how much of an impact Mize can make with the Padres from here. If he pitches with the Padres like he did with the Tigers, he will be a very strong addition to their roster.
