76ers Have Reason for Optimism Heading Into 2026

But, frankly, this roster feels different than it did a few months ago.
There's finally a sense that the front office has a plan, and adding Jaylen Brown is a big reason why.
Regardless of how people evaluate Brown's exact value, the idea behind the move is easy to understand. The 76ers needed more stability on the wing, and they found a player who can bring it on both ends of the floor. That's an A+ pick.
For years, the forward spots have been one of the biggest concerns in Philadelphia. The team has had stars, but finding the right pieces around Joel Embiid has been a constant challenge. Brown changes that equation. He's strong, athletic and reliable enough to take some pressure off Embiid when the game gets ugly. And it will.
Dean Wade also gives the 76ers another useful piece, helping provide some balance to a roster that has often leaned too heavily on its biggest names.
Of course, Philadelphia isn't a perfect team. The shooting still needs to improve, and there are still questions about how the roster holds up physically when Embiid isn't on the floor. That's been the reality of building around a superstar center, and it's not something that disappears overnight.
But the difference now is that the 76ers have a real path forward.
Before this offseason, reaching the NBA Finals felt like a long shot. The roster had too many holes and too much uncertainty. Now, there is at least a blueprint. If Embiid stays healthy and Brown fits the way Philadelphia hopes, this team has a chance to compete with the best in the East.
