Victor Wembanyama Reacts to NBA 2K27 Covers for Caitlin Clark, Derrick Rose

San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama appears on one of three covers for the upcoming NBA 2K basketball video game, along with current Indiana Fever All-Star Caitlin Clark and former NBA MVP Derrick Rose .
With Wemby receiving that honor, a new video featuring 2K's Ronnie "Ronnie 2K' Singh featured the cover reveals to the Spurs' 7-foot-4 French superstar. An MVP contender last season, Wemby shared his thoughts on each cover and the players on them.
"That's a dope picture. The thing I love the most is that we see my teammates in it," Wemby said about his own cover. "I think it's hard to resume an identity in one picture, but if I had to choose, that's what I would do: put my teammates in there and a moment of emotion."
"I don't think there's a singular better photo for the cover," he said.
His cover for the 2K standard edition of the game comes from his game-winning shot in March against the Phoenix Suns. That shot helped the Spurs clinch a playoff spot. After a failed Suns attempt to answer, the final buzzer sounded, and teammates, including Dylan Harper and Devin Vassell, grabbed his jersey and celebrated with him.
Wemby also praised the Fever's Clark for getting her own cover of the video game, and spoke about his admiration for the WNBA star.
"That's great. She definitely deserves to be on there," he said of the 2K27 deluxe edition cover. "A big inspiration for me, of course, you know her status of number one pick, the way she changes the game as well. I've always felt some respect and inspiration from people who break the rules in some way," he told Singh.
Wemby didn't elaborate on what he meant by "break the rules," but both he and Clark have been known to draw criticism for some of their on-court antics or actions. For Clark, it's been her quickly racking up seven technical fouls in the WNBA this season for various complaints to the refs or trash-talking her opponents.
For Wemby, it's been several physical incidents on the court, including earning his first ejection from a game after a hard elbow he knocked Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves down with in the playoffs.
"Derrick Rose, that's tough," he said of the 2K27 ultra edition cover featuring the Bulls legend. "I like that you put the young MVP Derrick Rose ... He was very good, very early in his career, like in terms of maturity, doesn't really get much better than him."
Wemby clearly sees the parallels between himself, Clark, and Rose. All three were No. 1 picks, won Rookie of the Year and became All-Star players trying to win championships. Rose's career included a breakout third season where he won the NBA MVP Award, and his trajectory seemed to indicate it would only continue. Unfortunately, a rough injury sidelined his progress in his fourth season.
Wemby's future seems extremely bright after contending for the NBA MVP Award in his third season and helping the Spurs reach the Finals much quicker than some anticipated for a young roster. That seems to suggest some crazy future potential from a player many believe isn't even from this planet, with LeBron James famously calling him "The Alien."
