Cam Skattebo got off to a hot start in his NFL career, rushing for 410 yards and five touchdowns, while catching 24 passes for 207 yards and two more scores in his first eight professional appearances.
The New York Giants rookie exhibited a uniquely aggressive style of play, lowering his helmet to run through defenders at every opportunity. This play style served him well โ until he suffered a gruesome, season-ending leg injury in Week 8 of his debut season.
Skattebo wants to stay aggressive as he heads into Year 2, but he also acknowledges that there needs to be a balance.
"People know I'm crazy. I like to run through people instead of around them," Skattebo told reporters on Monday. "Hopefully, you'll see more running around people this year.
"I think [John Harbaugh] loves that I run right over the top of people, physicality is his No. 1 thing," he added. "As I've come back from injury, and learning to take less hits, try to maneuver better around people instead of through them. Realizing that I could've got four more yards if I would've just took a step to the left. Those are things that I'm just going to continue to add to my game."
The Giants will take the field for their next preseason matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.
