Fever Star Aliyah Boston Suffers Apparent Knee Injury

Indiana Fever center/forward Aliyah Boston was voted an All-Star starter, her fourth All-Star selection in as many WNBA seasons, but she only played five minutes before enjoying the rest of the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game from the bench.
Boston, the 2023 No. 1 overall pick, wanted to avoid any injury risk. She had been the picture of durability — never missing a game in college at South Carolina or in the WNBA — until a persistent lower leg injury sidelined her in May.
Boston initially suffered the injury during the Unrivaled season and has been managing for the entirely of this WNBA season.
With that as the backdrop, stomachs collectively dropped across Indiana when Boston clutched her knee and grimaced in the second quarter of the Fever's game against the Seattle Storm in Seattle on Tuesday night, July 28.
Boston went to set a screen for Caitlin Clark and on the back-half of the pick-and-roll, she tripped over Flau'jae Johnson's foot and crashed to the floor. Boston's knee broke her fall, and she gingerly lipped toward the locker room with a towel over her head.
As of this writing, there has not been an official update on Boston's status, but the optics certainly weren't optimistic.
Hoping for the best, but if Boston has to miss any amount of time, it would be a massive blow to a Fever team that has been plagued by injury over the past two years. Clark missed all but 13 games due to various injuries last season.
As such, the core of Boston, Clark, and All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell haven't played all that much basketball together since 2024. They were just starting to jell before the All-Star break.
Boston has averaged 17.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks through 24 games this season.
