Beamer is expected to be on the hot seat if the Gamecocks have another year like they did in 2025, when they finished with a 4-8 season. Sellers is one of the more polarizing prospects for the 2027 NFL Draft, and could be a Day 1 or Day 3 pick depending on how he performs this fall.
On Sunday, South Carolina revealed disappointing news on two wide receivers that impact Sellers and Beamer this season.
Per Chris Clark of On3, Jayden Sellers, LaNorris' brother, and Jayden Gibson will miss the entire 2026 season due to injury.
“I am extremely disappointed for both of these young men,” Beamer said. “I know how hard each of them has worked over the spring and summer in getting ready for 2026 to help our team. I have full confidence they will both overcome the adversity they’re facing, and we will help them in whatever way we can throughout the rehab process moving forward.”
Jayden Sellers recorded 22 receptions for 337 yards and one touchdown in 2025, his first season with the program. He made a bigger impact on the offense toward the end of the season.
Jayden Sellers had a breakout game against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 22, making four catches for 127 yards and a score in South Carolina's 51-7 win. Against Clemson on Nov. 29, Jayden made five receptions for 67 yards.
Gibson, a six-foot-five, 205-pound senior from Apopka, Florida, made 14 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns for Oklahoma in 2023. His best outing was against BYU on Nov. 18, when he made 14 catches for 375 yards and one touchdown. He missed the entire 2024 season due to injury and did not record a catch in 2025.
South Carolina has a promising trio of Nitro Tuggle, Mazeo Bennett Jr. and Nyck Harbor. But the Gamecocks’ depth is being tested with the loss of Jayden Sellers and Gibson.
