Astros Predicted to Trade Star Shortstop Before Deadline

They are currently at the top of the AL West standings with a 56-55 record but also have the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners right behind them. With this, some have questioned if the Astros could look to move out a few of their veterean players before the deadline passes.
In a recent article for The Athletic , Chandler Rome predicted that the Astros will trade shortstop Jeremy Pena by the deadline.
"The Astros will recognize their myriad issues, acknowledge their long odds of making a meaningful run in the American League playoffs and reinvigorate their farm system by trading shortstop Jeremy Pena," Rome wrote.
Due to the Astros' struggles with consistency this season, questions about Pena's future in Houston have been coming up often. While he is an important part of the Astros' roster, he would have the potential to get them a significant return in a trade. It could be worth considering for the Astros, especially when noting that Pena can become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
Pena's trade value is also very high right now, as he is in the middle of a fantastic season. In 63 games this campaign with Houston, he has 12 home runs, 34 RBI, and an impressive .317 batting average. This is after he had 17 home runs, 62 RBI, and a .304 batting average in 125 games last season. With numbers like these, he could get the Astros a major return in a move.
It will be interesting to see if Rome's prediction comes true and the Astros trade Pena before the deadline passes from here.
