LeBron James made his long-awaited NBA free agency decision on Friday, announcing his commitment to join the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the 2026-27 season.
James chose the 76ers over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and more. The 41-year-old superstar now joins a talented roster featuring Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe for his historic 24th NBA season.
Immediately after James announced his decision on social media, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported the details of The King's latest NBA contract.
"LeBron James is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million deal with a player option, Klutch Sports Group and Klutch CEO and Game Over show host Rich Paul tells ESPN," Charania reported.
In his eighth and final season with the Los Angeles Lakers last year, James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game โ continuing his elite production.
"This is my last decision. Iโm not going for money. Iโm not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning," James wrote on social media.
"I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time."
