The Jacksonville Jaguars have lots to sort out during training camp, but one of their biggest storylines remains one of the most unusual players in the NFL . Travis Hunter continues to get regular work on both sides of the ball, giving Jacksonville a glimpse of just how much it can get out of its young star.
Through six early practices, Hunter had taken 51 defensive reps and 35 offensive reps in 11-on-11 work, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco . He made his presence felt last weekend, too, picking off a pass on defense before turning around and making a 35-yard catch on offense.
Hunter is expected to see more action at cornerback this season, but Jacksonville isn't ready to completely take him away from the offensive side. There's something pretty fun about watching a player who can do it all.
The good news for the Jaguars is they might not need Hunter to be a major offensive contributor. Parker Washington continues to draw plenty of praise early in camp, and his emergence could give Jacksonville some welcome flexibility. The slot receiver has been one of the more impressive players on the roster so far, which gives the offense another target.
Brian Thomas Jr. also appears to be finding his footing again, while Jakobi Meyers continues to provide the kind of steady presence teams tend to appreciate over a long season.
If those three receivers can establish themselves, Jacksonville won't have to force Hunter into a heavy offensive workload just to get enough production from the passing game.
There are also changes happening up front. Anton Harrison's move to left tackle appears increasingly likely, giving the Jaguars another important piece to settle before the regular season begins. For now, though, Hunter remains the player everyone is watching.
