The Tennessee Titans Players in the Most Danger of Being Cut

The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers kick off the 2026 preseason with their Hall of Fame Game clash on Thursday, Aug. 6 on NBC, and Week 1 of the preseason officially kicks off the following week on Aug. 13.
As we count down the days until the start of the NFL regular season — which kicks off with a Super Bowl LX rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots on “Sunday Night Football” on Sept. 9 — we continue to look at key offseason storylines for each of the league’s 32 teams.
This week, we’re looking as the players most in danger of being cut during the preseason, and we’ve arrived at the Tennessee Titans .
The Titans have a bit of a logjam at running back. With the offseason additions of Michael Carter, who has accumulated 1,692 yards rushing and nine touchdowns over six NFL seasons, and rookie fifth-round pick Nicholas Singleton, who rushed for over 1,000 yards twice in four years at Penn State, that could mean there’s no longer room for Julius Chestnut.
Tennessee still has its 1-2 punch in Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears, with Carter or Singleton likely filling the RB3 and RB4 spots, leaving Chestnut and Kalel Mullings as the odd men out. Chestnut has been with Tennessee for four seasons, and he has just 154 yards rushing to show for it.
He doesn’t add anything that Carter, Singleton or Mullings can’t, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chestnut a cut casualty and placed on the practice squad.
It’s wild to think of the improvement in the Titans’ WR room from last year to this year. After drafting Carnell Tate No. 4 overall and signing Wan’Dale Robinson to a $70 million contract in free agency, the Titans have a much more formidable passing attack than a season ago.
Elic Ayomanor is expected to take another step in his development, Calvin Ridley could make some noise if fully healthy, All-Pro special teamer Chimere Dike proved he can contribute in the passing game as well, and Xavier Restrepo will probably stick around just because of his chemistry with former Miami teammate Cam Ward.
That means K.J. Osborn, Hank Beatty, Courtney Jackson, Mason Kinsey, Lance McCutcheon, Tyren Montgomery, and Bryce Oliver all could be released with a full WR room. Osborn hasn’t played since the 2024 season, and he’s just three years removed from back-to-back 600-yard seasons. Unless he has a monster training camp, Osborn could be looking for another team by the end of August.
When the Titans drafted Texas’ Anthony Hill Jr. in the second round of April’s draft, many believed that was the final nail in the coffin for James Williams, who has contributed 52 tackles and one sack across 29 games in two seasons.
Tennessee’s linebacker room is actually pretty solid with Hill Jr., Cedric Gray, Cody Barton, Jaylen Harrell, and Mohamoud Diabate all in the mix. Williams is only 23, so he still has upside, but there just may not be any room for him by the time the preseason ends.
