According to the New York Post's Joel Sherman , the Yankees are calling up relief pitcher Justin Topa to their major league roster.
Topa landing this call-up comes just a week and a half after he signed a minor league contract with the Yankees. Now, he is getting a shot on New York's major league roster and will be looking to impress because of it.
Topa appeared in 23 games this season with the Minnesota Twins, where he posted a 0-1 record, an 8.05 ERA, and 12 strikeouts. This was after he had a 1-5 record, a 3.90 ERA, and 49 strikeouts during the 2025 season with the Twins.
Overall, there is no real harm in the Yankees giving Topa a chance on their major league roster. He will now provide their bullpen with another veteran reliever as they enter the final stretch of the 2026 season.
In 172 career MLB games over seven seasons split between the Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, and Twins, Topa has posted a 6-11 record, a 4.27 ERA, and 141 strikeouts. It will be intriguing to see how he performs with the Yankees after landing this call-up.
