Susan Collins (R-Maine) on Saturday. Democrats in the state voted 566-5 on Jackson to replace Graham Platner at the top of the ticket.
Platner withdrew his bid earlier this month following allegations of sexual abuse.
Meanwhile, Houthi rebels backed by Iran launched what they called retaliatory strikes in Saudi Arabia on Saturday morning. The latest attack in the Middle East comes as President Trump has threatened Tehran of a major escalation in the conflict. Experts signal the warnings are unlikely to move the needle for the Islamic Republic.
Tehran also marked its first night without U.S. strikes Saturday, after two-weeks of consistent attacks.
On Friday, Trump took center stage at the make-up White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) dinner. His speech was laden with quips at his own administration, former President Biden, his political foes and the media. The audience reception, however, was lukewarm.
The president is in Washington this weekend.
