The New England Patriots lost Tom Brady six years ago after he established himself as a true legend of the game, and they've since seemingly found another franchise quarterback in Drake Maye.
On Friday, Maye's spot in the annual NFL Top 100 list was revealed, with the Patriots' quarterback landing in the No. 11 spot, making him one of the league's top quarterbacks along with reigning NFL Most Valuable Player, Matthew Stafford.
Last season, Maye threw for 4,394 passing yards and 31 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He led the league with a stellar 113 passer rating and a 77.1 QBR.
The Patriots shared Maye's ranking with their social media followers, posting the message "@DrakeMaye2 at number 11" with a saluting emoji to show support for their QB1.
To announce Maye's spot on social media, the NFL unveiled a highlight video showcasing Maye's talents and skills, with commentary from teammates and opponents.
"I feel as though it's the touch. He's able to make every throw that he needs to. You gotta have touch whenever you're a quarterback in the National Football League," Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones said.
Baltimore Ravens safety Jaylinn Hawkins, also Maye's former teammate on the Pats, also had high praise for the star quarterback.
"Dude is special. Special person. Special player, can do it all, and I respect his game. I respect who he is as a man," Hawkins said.
A particular highlight showing Maye's abilities was a perfectly thrown touchdown pass to teammate Kyle Williams with Ravens defenders chasing him. It was particularly impressive how Maye threw that ball just right to find Williams.
Toward the close of Maye's NFL Top 100 video, several players also called Maye the "best player in the NFL." That could be a strong statement heading into a new NFL season, as some of the AFC's best quarterbacks will once again be vying for the Super Bowl spot, including the Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen and Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes.
Not to mention, Stafford is still the reigning MVP, and many believe he could lead a stacked Los Angeles Rams squad to the Super Bowl in 2027.
