Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was discharged from a rehab facility and has returned home amid his lengthy absence from Congress, he said in a statement released Thursday by his office.
The big picture: The 84-year-old lawmaker was hospitalized in June and has not been seen in public since, outside of images released by his office.
Driving the news: "On the advice of my doctors, I'll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I'll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business," McConnell said in his statement.
Yes, but: Beshear can't legally force McConnell to quit.
The bottom line: McConnell did not provide any indication of when he would be returning to the Hill โ where his absence has complicated Republicans' political math.
