Red Sox Interested in 2 Reds Star Trade Candidates

Now, based on a new report, the Red Sox have two very notable Cincinnati Reds trade candidates on the radar with the deadline almost here.
In a recent article for The Athletic , Jen McCaffrey reported that the Red Sox are interested in Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz and pitcher Hunter Greene.
"The Boston Red Sox have inquired about Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz and starter Hunter Greene, a league source granted anonymity for candor told The Athletic."
It is no secret that the Red Sox could use a boost at the shortstop position, and acquiring De La Cruz would undoubtedly provide them with just that. The 24-year-old is a legitimate star and would be a massive addition to a Red Sox team that is looking to not only make the playoffs but cement themselves as true contenders.
In 91 games this season with the Reds, De La Cruz has 18 home runs, 20 stolen bases, 48 RBI, and a .276 batting average. With numbers like these, the two-time All-Star would give Boston's lineup a massive upgrade if acquired.
As for Greene, the 6-foot-5 righty would have the potential to be a fantastic pickup for the Red Sox's starting rotation. The 26-year-old is a legitimate star when performing at his best and is also under team control for multiple more seasons. He also has a club option for the 2029 season.
In five appearances this season with the Reds, Greene has a 2-2 record, a 6.83 ERA, and 33 strikeouts. While he has had a slow start to the season since returning from injury, he undoubtedly should bounce back. Just last season, he had a 7-4 record, a 2.76 ERA, and was an All-Star.
