When ESPN purchased NFL Network, NFL Fantasy, and the cable/satellite rights for NFL RedZone back in January, many wondered what the future held for some of the league’s top sports media personalities.
While high-profile names like Ian Rapaport and Kyle Brandt kept their jobs, others like Tom Pelissero, Ryan Clark, Charles Davis, Stephania Bell, Damien Woody, Cam Newton, and Bart Scott were all cut during the last round of ESPN layoffs.
However, it didn’t take one member of that group long to find another gig just in time for the start of football season.
“Tom Pelissero is joining Netflix Gameday as a sideline reporter and NFL insider for the full slate of games this season, starting with 49ers vs. Rams in Week 1 from Melbourne,” Netflix announced on X .
“@TomPelissero will also co-host ‘The Ringer NFL Show’ and contribute across The Ringer’s NFL podcasts, including a weekly appearance on ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast.’ The Ringer’s video podcasts are available on Netflix.”
With Netflix trying to build itself as a serious player in live sports streaming, adding a former top NFL insider like Pelissero is a huge feather in its cap.
Netflix will stream five NFL regular-season games in 2026 to its 325 million paid subscriber, and its looking to add more and establish itself as a go-to place for professional sports.
The full 2026 Netflix NFL schedule is below.
