Christa Pike’s lawyers said that Pike remains shackled to her hospital bed.
“Based on our understanding, medical staff have asked that the shackled be removed and have been denied that request by [the Tennessee corrections department],” they said, adding: “We would also amend our request and ask for that relief.”
Pike’s lawyers have also said that although they have been able to visit Pike since her botched execution attempt, “there are still obstacles being put in our way for that,” including waiting in a hopsital lobby for over two hours before their visit request was approved.
