UCLA WBB Incoming Freshman Wins EuroBasket MVP, Gold Medal

Before beginning her collegiate career at UCLA , incoming freshman Somto Okafor put together a standout performance for Spain in the 2026 FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket in Sweden .
Okafor walked away with a team gold medal and the tournament's Most Valuable Player Award. She was also an All-Star Five selection after averaging a team-leading 15.3 points per game. Okafor ranked seventh overall in the tournament in points per game.
A trio of Bruins competed for their respective teams in the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket.
Sophomore guard/forward Lena Bilić represented Croatia, sophomore guard Christina Karamouzi played for Sweden and incoming freshman Lina Jerković competed with Slovenia. Bilić helped Croatia finish in eighth place in the tournament.
Bilić and Karamouzi are two of five returners on UCLA's roster this season. Sienna Betts, Amanda Muse and Timea Gardiner are also returning from UCLA's national championship team.
The Bruins will have multiple new faces on this year's team after losing six seniors to the 2026 WNBA Draft. In addition to Okafor and Jerković, UCLA is adding five new transfers to the 2026-27 roster.
