Following a report from Bloomberg yesterday that Apple is collaborating with LG for a new collection of smart home devices and accessories, a reliable leaker known as “pdfu” on X has revealed more details about several of the new products, including a thermostat with a “Far Sight Display” that sounds similar to what Nest offers . Specifics about pricing and availability aren’t yet known, but the devices will reportedly integrate with Apple’s rumored smart home hub that’s expected to launch on October 13th.
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock will feature a keypad that “rotates to open” and an adjustable design ensuring that rotating parts don’t end up touching a nearby wall. Functionality includes automatic unlocking, tap to unlock, emergency power, adjustable light settings, and an alarm for when the door has been left open or unlocked. In addition to access codes and remote operability, the deadbolt lock will also include a pair of mechanical keys that can be used as a backup.
The LG Smart Thermostat appears to feature a streamlined circular design with a large display for the current temperature and other measurements like humidity. Settings include adjustments for its “Far Sight Display,” brightness, and “calibrated temperature/temperature offset.” To help ensure an entire home is properly heated or cooled, an accompanying LG Temperature Sensor that can also measure humidity can be installed, providing the thermostat with measurements for other rooms. The sensor features a magnetic back for attaching to metal surfaces, an adhesive metal plate for more installation flexibility, and a replaceable battery with alerts when it needs a swap.
