President Donald Trump weighed in on France's ongoing school protest controversy on Tuesday, saying that the unrest reflected broader concerns about immigration and integration in the country.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "What's happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration . This isn't about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country!"
The president's remarks came as protests and political debate continue in France over education and immigration-related issues, with the dispute drawing international attention and fueling broader arguments about migration policy in Europe.
Protesters are largely demonstrating over what they have described as “catastrophic learning conditions” and a lack of resources for schools. The movement gained traction in Paris, after students and staff from schools there mobilized last month.
Complaints include too many students per class, a lack of teachers and support staff and schools left in bad condition, according to the Union Syndicale Lycéenne (USL), which represents high school students, and Union Étudiante.
Trump has frequently criticized immigration policies in European countries and has warned that large-scale migration poses cultural and security challenges. His latest remarks add to an already heated debate in France, where government officials and political parties remain divided over how to respond to public concerns about immigration, integration and national identity.
