San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk was pretty adamant after the NFL fined him nearly $15,000 two weeks ago that he wasn’t imitating chugging a beer after celebrating making a first-down catch.
The Pro Bowler even made a TikTok video with his wife explaining that he was, in fact, chugging some juice — hence his nickname “Juice” — and not the adult beverage.
After some thoughtful consideration, the NFL decided after hearing Juszczyk’s explanation that the fine was no longer warranted, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“The NFL has rescinded the $14,926 fine it imposed on 49ers FB Kyle ‘Juice’ Juszczyk for what it thought was a distasteful celebration of chugging a beer,” Schefter posted on X .
“The league said it was withdrawing the fine ‘because his celebration was simulating drinking a juice box, not a beer…Mr. Juszczyk finally stated that the fine is hypocritical with the amount of Bud Light sponsorships surrounding the NFL.’ Fine rescinded.”
After the news broke, Juszczyk responded to the NFL walking back his five-figure fine posting “#FreeJuice” on social media .
But Juszczyk wasn’t the only player who had his fine rescinded on Wednesday either.
Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson was also hit with a significant fine for a similar celebration; however, his actions appeared to actually imitate shotgunning a beer.
“NFL rescinded the $13,611 fine given to Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson for saying he was ‘shotgunning a beer,’” Schefter added. “Ferguson told the league it was his Gatorade celebration that he previously had done on multiple occasions in practice, as the team had documented on social media. Fine rescinded.”
